Gabriela Damián Miravete was born in Mexico City. She is part of the Under the Volcano international writing program and FutureCon, a science fiction world convention. She is co-founder of the art and science collective Cúmulo de Tesla, of the feminist symposium Escritoras y Cuidados, and Mexicona, a festival of speculative literature in Spanish. Her stories have been published and translated into English, French, Italian, and Portuguese in volumes such as Three Messages and a Warning (World Fantasy Award finalist anthology) and A Larger Reality /Una realidad más amplia, part of The Mexicanx Initiative Scrapbook, finalist for a Hugo Award. She won the James Tiptree, Jr. Award (now Otherwise Award) for “They Will Dream in the Garden,” a story about a future Mexico in which femicides no longer exist.
