Cynthia Gómez writes horror and other types of speculative fiction, set primarily in Oakland, where she makes her home. She especially loves themes of revenge, retribution, and resistance to oppression. Her work has appeared in Fantasy Magazine, Strange Horizons, Luna Station Quarterly, Nightmare Magazine, NightTide magazine, and numerous anthologies. “Lips Like Sugar,” her queer vampire story, was nominated for a 2024 Ignyte Award. Her short story collection, The Nightmare Box and Other Stories, was released from Cursed Morsels Press in July 2024, and her first novel, Muñeca, will be out from Penguin Random House in 2026.
