The Map of Lost Places - Scavenger Hunt! - Apex Book Company

Calling all explorers, wanderers, and adventure-seekers...

In preparation for The Map of Lost Places coming out April 22nd, 2025, we're hosting a scavenger hunt! A list of clues to find the treasures are posted below, and the treasures range from quotes from the collections' stories to images that connect to the tales within. There are thirteen treasures to find, located all across the contributors' social media. Here's how the hunt will work!

  1. Using the clues below, find at least eight treasures from the collection—it can be any of the eight that you want!

  2. Document all eight, including links to the treasures.

  3. Once you've found eight treasures, email those eight to Darian Bianco (darian@apexbookcompany.com) to confirm that all treasures are correct.

The first three people to email eight correct treasures to Darian will receive:

  • An ARC of The Map of Lost Places
  • A copy of ChloroPhilia by Cristina Jurado
  • An Apex Book Company Mug

Happy Hunting!

About the Book

The Map of Lost Places - Compiled by Sheree Renée Thomas & Lesley Conner

A travel guide to hauntings and the haunted, to lands with their own power, and to the communities that spring from these strange realms.

In your hands is a travel guide to the strange and surreal. From arcades along a boardwalk and jetties at the edges of tourist towns, to a rural village in Pakistan and hollows hidden deep within a forest in Pennsylvania, strange things can happen no matter where you are. You can become lost in a city crowded with people, haunted within your own home, and slip from one reality into another in the space of a step.

With twenty-two stories by authors such as Brian Keene, Maurice Broaddus, Ai Jiang, Samit Basu, and K.S. Walker, editors Sheree Renée Thomas and Lesley Conner take readers on a tour of places where weird things happen. Places where ghosts are real, old gods are hungry, and towns are not as idyllic as they appear.

Welcome to The Map of Lost Places. Enter at your own risk.

"Thomas and Conner are tour guides to a terrifying world both familiar and fantastic, well worth a visit from anyone who thinks they've seen it all. This collection proves you haven't." —Terence Taylor, author of Bite Marks and Out There Screaming
