Apex Publications seeks submissions for Undead: A Poetry Anthology of Ghouls, Ghosts, and More. Editors Bianca Lynne Spriggs and Katerina Stoykova-Klemer welcome your specters, apparitions, zombies, wraiths, phantoms, thought forms and anything (or anyone) animate but no longer living. Email 1-3 poems to by April 1st, 2016. Previously published work is eligible, as long as you own the rights.


Novel/Novella submissions are OPEN

Apex Publications is accepting unsolicited submissions of science fiction, fantasy, and horror novels/novellas July 8th through July 31st. We will consider novellas in length of 30,000 to 40,000 words and novels in length up to 120,000 words. 

A literary agent is not required for submission. We may take up to three months or more to review your manuscript. Simultaneous submissions are okay. We discourage multiple submissions.

We only accept email submissions to In your submission packet, please send your entire manuscript with a cover letter. A synopsis is not required but may be requested at a later date. Please include your name, address, phone number, and manuscript word count in the upper right hand corner of the first page of your manuscript.

Apex publishes 6-10 books a year. We offer a small advance and standard royalty terms (Our royalty terms range from 7 to 13% of MSRP. We generally start at 7% and stair-step it up to 13% based on units sold). Our eBook royalty is 40% of net receipts. Novellas receive the same terms, but with a smaller advance.

Apex Magazine closing to submissions for the summer

Apex Magazine will be closed to submissions over the summer. This will give our slush readers a much deserved break, and will allow editor-in-chief Jason Sizemore and managing editor Lesley Conner to take the time to go through all of the stories held for further consideration.

What does this mean for you? If you're a reader/fan of Apex Magazine, nothing. Each month we will have another amazing issue ready for your reading consumption. If you're a writer who has a shiny new story you'd like us to consider, it means you have one month to polish it to absolute perfection and send it in. You can submit your story through our Submittable form.

Submissions will close on June 1st, 2015 and will reopen on September 1st, 2015. Any stories sent during June, July, and August will be rejected unread.
