A common question I get during the hundreds of hours I’m working the Apex table at conventions is “Hey, cool shot glass (mug). Why isn’t this available on your website?”
I’ve never had a straight answer. Mostly, it had to do with the weird intricacies of how our shop calculates shipping costs. I think I’ve got that squared away and after doing some test orders, am confident in presenting our glass ware for purchase.
Bon vivant and rabblerouser Justin Stewart created the design. He was also put in charge of testing how well these glassware containers dispensed liquids.
MUG TESTING:
In a controlled environment (his kitchen), he filled the 11 ounce solid ceramic Apex Alien Head mug with a mix of potent coffee, six packs of sugar, and three tubs of half and half. He proceeded to drink this mixture. Thirty minutes later, a chattering nutcase named Cornholio took over Justin’s body and proceeded to state that the mug worked.
SHOT GLASS TESTING:
In a crowded and dangerous environment (Apex room party at random convention), Justin filled the 1.5 ounce thick and clear glassware Apex Alien Head shot glass to the brim with an alcoholic beverage simply called “The Blue Stuff.” He drank it down. Not feeling much, he did another 1.5 ounce shot. And another. Thirty minutes later, we found Justin face down on the bathroom floor. When prompted about the effectiveness of the Apex Alien Head shot glass, he told us “It worked, now piss off,” and he promptly fell asleep (passed out).
There you have it. The mug and shot glass are awesome looking. They have also been lab tested and proven to work.
The coffee mugs have also been subjected to rigorous real-world stress testing in the form of being the afternoon coffee mug of choice in the Harriett household. It has reliably dispensed French roast, Colombian, Tanzanian peaberry, Kenya AA and La Minita Coasta Rican Dark. Holds up equally well to black coffee and coffee with skim milk.
The shot glasses also stood up to containment of clear glass aquarium gravel. Due to safety concerns, the gravel test was not conducted in proximity to The Blue Stuff, The Pink Stuff, or Stuff of any other color.
The shot glasses have undergone rigorous testing of “camel jumps” and “buffalo hunts” and have passed the tests better than the participants.
Oh, I so need an Apex mug. They are so cool!! Might have to get a few extras to use as stocking stuffers at Christmas, because who wouldn’t want one!
For you, mighty Editor, the first one is on the house.

And the wish list grew longer still … *grins*
Ah, but I cleverly priced them to be affordable!
